The northern hamlet of St. George’s Hill has had a tough time attracting candidates for council for next month’s civic election.

Only one person put their name forward for council by yesterday’s deadline — incumbent Pat Desjarlais.

There are four available spots on the council.

One position has been vacant for some time now, while the other two incumbents have decided not to seek re-election.

Hamlet administrator Tom Bekkatla says this is the first time in recent memory that interest has been so low.

Meanwhile, two candidates are in the running for mayor in St. George’s Hill — incumbent Donna Janvier and challenger Delphine Bekkatla.

The election takes place October 25th.
