Polls have opened for members of the Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation voting in today’s chief and council election.
The band is the second-largest in Saskatchewan, and to accommodate all its members, the First Nation has polling stations set up in seven different communities.
Incumbent chief Ron Michel is seeking re-election.
He is being challenged by Lester Gardiner, Harold Linklater and Hector Morin.
A total of 71 people are attempting to land a spot on the band’s 14-member council.
