Dustyhorn’s Girlfriend Told Police Not To Shoot

A coroner’s inquest has heard that a woman screamed at Saskatoon police not to shoot her boyfriend, just moments before the man was struck down by five bullets.
Loriann Worm was testifying yesterday at the probe into the death of Dwayne Charles Dustyhorn, who was killed during a confrontation with police in December 2007.
Worm says she and Dustyhorn had a stormy relationship, and although he had been ordered to stay away from her, the two had patched up their differences after a family tragedy.
She says they had been drinking heavily and started to fight on the day of the shooting.
Dustyhorn was worried about going to jail, and she dialed 9-1-1, but hung up when her boyfriend grabbed two knives from the kitchen and taped them to his hands.
Worm told the inquest she couldn’t remember exactly what happened when police arrived, but recalls trying to get the knives away and screaming at police not to shoot.
Dustyhorn then charged the officers with the knives and was shot repeatedly.
The inquest, which runs until Friday, will determine exactly how Dustyhorn died, and how similar deaths might be prevented.
