Al Ducharme has been chosen to represent the Liberals in Churchill River in the coming federal election.

Ducharme defeated Allan Morin for the nomination by a vote count of 321 to 290 this past Saturday.

Morin says he will support Ducharme in his bid to win the Churchill River constituency for the Liberals.

As for his own plans, Morin says he has already ruled out seeking re-election as the Metis Nation of Saskatchewan’s treasurer.

Over 2-thousand Liberal party members in Churchill River were eligible to vote this past weekend.

Voting took place at polling stations in Meadow Lake, Ile-a-la-Crosse, Montreal Lake and Red Earth.

In the event of a federal election call, Ducharme will be facing the NDP’s Earl Cook, the Conservatives’ Jeremy Harrison and possibly Rick Laliberte, if Laliberte decides to run as an independent.
