Five people face charges of drug trafficking after a seizure in La Ronge.

On July 22nd officers seized two ounces of marijuana and a small quantity of cash from a vehicle that was being driven along the Belle’s Point Road.

Shortly after that, officers obtained a search warrant and searched a nearby residence where they seized more drugs along with a large quantity of cash.

Staff sergeant Kirk Munro says drugs are a threat to northern communities right now and his detachment won¹t tolerate it.

Munro adds education and awareness are things that go hand-in-hand with enforcement of the problem.

A total of five people now face charges of possessing a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. They will appear in court on August 23rd.
