The Loon Lake RCMP have released the name of the drowning victim who perished as a result of a boating accident on Makwa Lake.

33-year-old Wellson Weeseekase of the Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation drowned on Wednesday in what’s believed to be a boating accident.

Police responded to calls early Wednesday evening from family members of Weeseekase, who reported that he had fallen out of a boat.

A search was conducted and Weeseekase’s body was eventually located by a family member.

Foul play is not suspected in this incident.
