Downed Helicopter Removed From Bernick Lake

A helicopter that crashed in a remote lake in the far north has been removed from the water.

Peter Hildebrandt of the Transportation Safety Board says another helicopter came and lifted the wreckage out of Bernick Lake.

He adds it will now be shipped to Winnipeg for further inspection.

Hildebrandt adds at this point there is no indication of what may have caused the crash.

The accident claimed the lives of 50 year-old Joseph Plourde of Quebec and 56 year-old Neil Husband of Ontario.
