Doucette Unwilling to Negotiate Settlement

The man who was initially declared president of the Metis Nation of Saskatchewan after last spring’s election says he won’t be cutting any special deals with the province or the MNS.
Robert Doucette confirms he recently spoke to a government-appointed arbitrator about the fallout over last spring’s vote and how he feels it should be resolved.
Doucette believes a general assembly of all Metis citizens is the best way of making sure the will of the grassroots majority is heard, and he repeats his call that MNS elections should be independently run.
Doucette doesn’t want any part of a suggestion that a Metis Nation Legislative Assembly be used to solve the impasse.
He says time has shown many top concerns at those functions are immediately tossed out once proceedings get underway.
