Doucette Hoping Courts Don’t Decide MNC Issue

Metis Nation – Saskatchewan President Robert Doucette hopes it will soon be business as usual at the Metis National Council.
In a couple of weeks, Doucette will be meeting with the other members of the Metis National Council board of governors — as well as former president Clem Chartier and legal counsel — to try and reach an agreement on who should be the delegates at the next MNC Assembly.
Doucette hopes the issue can be settled at a settlement conference on Dec. 17th — rather than going to court.
If the issue is not resolved at that gathering, it will be determined in court two days later.
Doucette says he is disappointed a decision could be made in non-Aboriginal courts, and says the leaders should have worked it out amongst themselves.
