Northern Saskatchewan does not appear to be home to a condition currently referred to as “Double Diabetes.”

Chief Medical Health Officer, Dr. James Irvine, says the medical mystery has been spotted in the U.S., but he hasn’t heard of any cases in northern Saskatchewan.

According to various reports “double diabetes” is when people with Type One Diabetes, develop Type Two later on. The result is a diabetic who needs insulin but whose body has trouble accepting it.

Irvine says it could potentially lower life-expectancy.
