Dorion’s Reversal Catches Former Allies Off Guard

One of the main dissidents opposing Joan Beatty’s appointment as a candidate for the Liberals is surprised with the latest development concerning the nomination.
Jim Durocher says he is also disappointed with former nomination hopeful John Dorion’s recent announcement that he will back Beatty.
Dorion was initially adamantly opposed to the appointment, and stated it did not follow proper democratic practices.
But earlier this week, Dorion made it known he had changed his mind, and will now support Liberal Leader Stephane Dion’s decision — something that has Durocher shaking his head.
Durocher notes Dorion was opposing the appointment as recently as last week, and wonders what happened in the interim.
Another dissident, Joe Durocher, says he’s “dismayed” at Dorion’s behaviour.
While Joe Durocher is also opposed to Beatty’s appointment, he’s glad it has at least kept Dorion from getting it.
