Dog Maulings Said To Be Rare In Wollaston Lake

An official with the Hatchet Lake First Nation says the severity of a dog attack earlier this week is disturbing.

Ed Benoanie says many people in the community have been bitten over the years, but it’s rare when someone gets mauled.

A two-year-old boy was attacked by two dogs on Wednesday afternoon, and had to be airlifted to hospital for surgery — but is expected to live.

The dogs have been destroyed and are being tested for rabies.

Benoanie says they will crack down immediately on any stray dogs running loose.
