Disputed Byelection Goes Ahead in Little Red

The Lac La Ronge Indian Band is holding a byelection today to fill the vacancy created by the dismissal of a band councillor.

Former Little Red councillor Keith Mirasty was removed from office following an investigation into allegations of financial mismanagement at a band-owned gravel business.

Mirasty disputes the findings of special investigator hired to look into the matter.

Mirasty’s name is not on the ballot in today’s byelection.

The three candidates running for the council seat are Vicky Joseph, Gloria McKenzie and Thomas Merasty.
