Sandy Bay Mayor Ina Fietz-Ray is delighted that digital cellular service has finally arrived in her community.

SaskTel announced the service today.

Customers get clearer reception through digital cell service, as well as access to e-mail, corporate databases and the Internet.

Fietz-Ray says the service will help many residents and volunteer organizations in the northern village, including the local fire department.

She adds “it’s certainly different to join the rest of the world”.

Digital cell service was installed in Sandy Bay about two weeks ago, but SaskTel spokesman Andy Tate says they wanted to make sure it was working perfectly before announcing it.
