About 350 people are attending what’s being called an Aboriginal gathering on diabetes in Prince Albert today.

Canadian Diabetes Association spokesperson Michelle Lafayette says the conference is looking at balancing traditional and western ways in prevention and treatment.

Lafayette says the medical establishment still has a way to go in recognizing the value of Aboriginal tradition in fighting diabetes.

Today’s event will conclude with a panel discussion with three people who have been living well with diabetes.
