Saskatchewan Highways has begun replacing two bridges on a well-travelled northern Saskatchewan highway.

From now until about September 21st, crews will be tearing down two timber bridges on Highway 165 and building new concrete bridges.

The bridges are located just northwest of the junction between Highway 165 and the Hanson Lake Road.

Saskatchewan Highways spokeswoman Kirsten Leatherdale says the project will cause many northern travellers to take detours over the next couple of weeks, since it’s part of the main route from La Ronge to Flin Flon, Creighton, Pelican Narrows and Deschambault Lake.

The bridges being replaced are located over a tributary to the Bear River and over Jayjay Creek.
