A group of volunteer firefighters from Fond du Lac have won a national competition for the second time in three years.

The five-member team was in Montreal this past weekend competing against some of the top Aboriginal firefighting teams in the country.

Team captain Georgie McDonald says his team swept all five events at the competition — when winning three out of five categories likely would have done the trick.

McDonald says the Fond du Lac firefighters put a lot of time and effort into their training.

Three members of this year’s team were part of the crew that won the national competition back in 2005.
