According to an official with the Saskatchewan Mining Association, demand for minerals found in northern Saskatchewan is on the rise.

Phil Reeves says Asian countries like India and China will soon need more types of rare earth minerals for use in their factories as their economies begin to power up.

Reeves says that means more investors and prospectors from mining companies are likely to begin trickling into the North.

Reeves adds other developments like the proposed diamond mine at Fort a la Corne and gold mine near La Ronge should result in increased profits for the industry very soon.
