The Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations says that this summer, it should be released from Indian and Northern Affairs Canada’s remedial management plan.
The federation had more than $1.6 million dollars in debt to deal with, so it designed a plan to post a $250,000 surplus each year.
This year, that surplus was $400,000.
Morley Watson, vice-chief responsible for finances, says the FSIN should be out of debt in four years, or maybe even less.
