Efforts are being made to address a severe funding shortage for a number of commissions at the FSIN.
Federation Vice-Chief Glen Pratt explains groups like the youth commission, women’s commission and even the FSIN senate do not have enough money to support them.
Pratt says the FSIN has created a chiefs’ task force to address the problem.
He says one move that has been discussed would involve individual bands dipping into their casino gaming revenue to help support those initiatives.
Pratt says the federation would prefer to get the money from the province, but it is open to all possibilities right now.
The FSIN is currently mired in a debt of $1.6 million.
