The Cumberland House Cree Nation has elected a new chief.

On Friday Lorne Stewart defeated three fellow challengers to lay claim to the title.

He replaces former chief Walter Sewap.

Joining Stewart on the executive council are Angus Mckenzie who won the battle for vice-chief.

Councillors elected include Rose Morin, Eric Laliberte and Billy Cooke.

All of the terms are for three years.
