Culprit in 2003 Little Red Stabbing Sentenced

A stabbing that occurred last year on the little Red River Reserve has netted a local resident two and half years in jail. 27 year-old Jackie Dale Mckenzie was sentenced Wednesday in Provincial Court for two counts of aggravated assault. He was charged after two men from Sturgeon Lake were sent to hospital with serious stab wounds. The incident occurred on July 3rd of 2003 during a house party at the Lac La Ronge band’s Little Red River reserve. The two men involved in the incident have since recovered from their injuries. Mckenzie is to begin serving his time immediately.
