Crown Pleased With Sanderson’s Sentence

A Crown prosecutor says he’s satisfied with the three-year prison sentence given to a La Ronge woman this past Friday in Prince Albert.

28-year-old Lily Sanderson was found guilty of two counts of impaired driving causing death and two counts of impaired driving causing bodily harm.

Attorney Jerrod Moore says the penalty handed down should send a strong message to others that drinking and driving is not acceptable.

The judge ruled Sanderson had not taken responsibility for her role in an accident that claimed the lives of Talitha Sanderson and Laura-Lee Isbister just south of La Ronge two years ago.

For that reason, he denied a request from the defence that Sanderson be given a conditional sentence instead of jail time.

Sanderson will also be barred from driving for three years after her release.
