Crown Decides Against Appeal In Kindrat Case

Saskatchewan Justice says there are no grounds for appealing the “not guilty” verdict of a man accused of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old Cree girl along a highway near Tisdale.

Jeffrey Kindrat was acquitted in the case for the second time last month.

Department spokesman Andrew Dinsmore refuses to offer any further explanation of the decision not to appeal.

Kindrat was one of three men charged in the 2001 incident.

The case sparked racial tension because the girl is Aboriginal and the three men are white.
