Saskatchewan Crimestoppers is hoping to soon have Aboriginal language translators at its call centre.

Spokesman Sergeant Doug Dersch admits there currently aren’t people on staff to handle calls from Cree speakers or other native language users.

He says the matter has recently been raised by First Nations people on the organization’s board, and he’s hopeful the situation will be addressed within the next year.

Dersch also says residents of reserves and northern communities provide as many tips to Crimestoppers as other members of the public.
