Creighton RCMP Investigating Abduction Attempt

The Creighton RCMP is looking for a man responsible for a failed child abduction attempt in Denare Beach earlier this week.

Constable Christina Wilder says the suspect tried to entice a young girl into a van at around 4:30 Tuesday afternoon.

The girl was apparently on her way to a friend’s house at the time, and immediately ran away from the man and told her mother — who then informed police.

Wilder says the Creighton RCMP is treating this matter very seriously, and has alerted area schools and local media about the episode.

According to the girl’s description, the suspect is Caucasian — possibly between 30 and 40 years of age — and has an average build.

He was apparently driving a white work van with two yellow ladders on the roof.

Wilder says that van was spotted in Creighton the following morning, and it’s possible the suspect is still in the area.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact the Creighton RCMP at 688-8888 as soon as possible.
