Cree Anthem Performed On Dec.29th For Flames Game

A band member from the Saddle Lake First Nation is once again being asked to perform on Hockey Night in Canada.

On December 29th, Akina Shirt makes her return to the Calgary Saddledome as the Flames do battle with the Ducks.

She will perform the cree version of O Canada. Viewers will be treated to Akina singing the American anthem as well.

The 13 year-old first performed the song on Hockey Night in Canada back in February.

However, the previous game went to a shootout meaning many people still haven’t seen it happen.
