Crash Sends Shoal Lake Residents to Hospital

Three people from Shoal Lake, including two youths, were sent to hospital following a collision between a semi and a minivan yesterday.

The Shoal Lake residents, aged 41, 17 and 6, were in the minivan — which lost control on some slush and ice on Highway 55 just east of Snowden.

The RCMP reports that the minivan spun into the oncoming lane of traffic and a semi truck traveling in the opposite direction was unable to stop in time and ran into the rear end of the mini-van.

The driver of the semi was uninjured, while the 3 occupants of the minivan all suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Two of them have already been released from hospital.

The Mounties say they don’t anticipate laying any charges in this crash, but they do want to remind the public that road conditions can change quickly at this time of year.
