CPAC Program On Cumberland House Airs Sunday

A Saskatchewan reserve will be profiled this Sunday on CPAC.

The episode is part of a five-part series entitled “Our Home on Native Land”, in which five reserves across Canada are showcased — including the Cumberland House Cree Nation.

The reserves were selected because of their locations to ensure the whole country was represented.

The producers also wanted to profile the most and least thriving reserves, and then some in between.

Cumberland House was seen as one somewhere in the middle, according to journalist Ed Watson, who visited the community.

Watson says the community was larger than he expected, and had quite a bit of activity.

Watson says while the reserve may have issues, he says positive things are happening — such as the fact many new homes are being built.

The episode airs this Sunday at 6 p.m. on CPAC.
