Two men from Tisdale have been ordered to stand trial a second time in connection to the sexual assault of a 12-year-old Aboriginal girl in 2001.

Jeffrey Brown and Jeffrey Kindrat were both acquitted of all charges by an all-white jury in their original trial.

That decision sparked outrage and protests in the Aboriginal community.

Today, however, the Saskatchewan Court of Appeal ruled in favour of a Crown application for a new trial.

Prosecutors argued that the judge’s instructions to the jury were flawed and may have influenced the outcome.

Another man implicated in the matter, Dean Edmonson, is appealing his conviction in the case.

The Crown is appealing his sentence.
