The former director of forest fire management in Saskatchewan is in a Prince Albert court today to answer to charges of sexual assault.

Murdoch Carriere was charged late last month following an RCMP investigation.

The native of Cumberland House is facing a total of six charges.

Carriere was fired from his position with Saskatchewan Environment earlier this year for allegedly sexually harassing female employees working in the department.

Carriere denies the allegations and is suing the government and several media outlets for defamation.
