Correctional And Youth Facility Workers Strike

The president of the Saskatchewan Government and General Employees Union says there’s a chance today’s strike could be expanded.

Bob Bymoen says members are frustrated with the government’s failure to address their concerns, and jail guards might not be the only ones who take action.

Bymoen notes about a dozen workers are off the job at the Buffalo Narrows Correctional Centre, and more than 200 employees are picketing at the jail in P.A. and the local young offenders’ facility.

Bymoen says snowplow operators will stay on the job for now.
