Contaminated Fish Not A Worry At Wollaston Lake

An official with Environment Canada says he is confident fish in Wollaston Lake are safe to eat.

Rod Slatnik says, as a result, the department won’t be performing any tests on the fish population because it doesn’t see a reason for it.

Last month, a diesel spill sent government crews scrambling to do tests on the safety of the water.

The tests came back fine.

Slatnik says the same should be true of the fish.

He adds an initial sighting of dead fish at Wollaston turned out to be false.

He thinks everything should be OK.
