Northern Saskatchewan Conservative MP Jeremy Harrison is welcoming news that a national Aboriginal organization is endorsing his party in the federal election.

The Congress of Aboriginal Peoples is throwing its support behind the Tories.

Congress national chief Dwight Dorey says the Conservative Party is the only party with a plan to help Aboriginal Canadians.

Dorey also says he’s encouraged by the Tories’ policies, adding they provide real opportunities.

Harrison says this is the first time a national Aboriginal group has publicly endorsed the Conservatives, and he believes it’s a sign that Aboriginal voters are warming up to the Tories.

The Congress of Aboriginal Peoples represents non-status and urban Aboriginals.
