Concerns Raised Over Flooding Near Beauval

Residents in the Beauval area are concerned over the recent elevation of the La Plonge River, as it continues to rise and flood surrounding areas.
Residents have confirmed the levels of the river have risen so high, the water is now flowing over a bridge that is normally approximately 10 feet above the river.
The Saskatchewan Watershed Authority recently opened a new dam at Lac La Plonge, which increased flows on the La Plonge and Beaver rivers.
The increased flows prompted the authority to issue several warnings to snowmobilers and others in the vicinity to use extreme caution when near the river, or to avoid it altogether.
Watershed officials say they are sending personnel to the area today to survey the situation.
