Commercial Fishers Remain Optimistic

Funding groups from Prince Albert met yesterday with representatives of Saskatchewan Cooperative Fisheries to discuss possible ways of raising cash needed to build a fish processing plant for the city.

While the meeting didn’t end with any firm commitments, SFC spokesman Merle Hewison feels that solid progress was achieved.

Hewison says they presented their arguments to the interested parties, and in return, were promised another meeting in one month’s time.

He also thinks many constructive ideas were tossed back and forth during the gathering.

Hewison says the groups will meet again in Prince Albert on August 10th.

Some of the agencies represented at the meeting include Prince Albert Venture Capital, Prince Albert Community Futures and development corporations based in Birch Narrows and Beauval.
