A speech from Saskatchewan Enterprise Minister Lyle Stewart highlights today’s proceedings at a major commercial fishers’ meeting in Prince Albert.

Saskatchewan Co-operative Fisheries Ltd. is holding its annual general meeting over the next couple of days.

At issue are a number of big questions concerning the future of the organization’s ability to market fish.

The first question is whether or not the provincial government will assist the fishers in getting out from under the monopoly of the Winnipeg-based Freshwater Fish Marketing Corporation.

The second is whether or not the government will ante up some cash to help them build a long-awaited fish processing plant in Prince Albert.

Stewart is expected to address those questions during a speech tonight.
