A book containing a collection of elders’ stories is making huge waves in northern Saskatchewan.
Meadow Lake Tribal Council education director Gary Mirasty says the book, which is a compilation of stories from 99 First Nations elders, has been sent to every First Nations school in Saskatchewan.
Mirasty says the feedback has been excellent, as people seem to be really happy with the product.
He says the MLTC’s education department has been getting a lot of phone calls and e-mails from schools or other organizations requesting more copies.
The 254-page book, titled “Voices of the Elders”, includes a variety of traditional stories, accounts of residential school experiences and how-to tips.
