Cogema to Meet With Dene Band Over Blockade

Officials with the Clearwater River Dene Nation report Chief Roy Cheechum will be sitting down with representatives of Cogema Resources today.

At issue is the band¹s nearly week-old blockade of the road to the Cluff Lake mine.

It’s not known whether or not officials from the government will be in attendance however the meeting is taking place in La Ronge.

This morning FSIN chief Alphonse Bird lent his support to the road-blockade stating band residents have every right to expect employment opportunities from projects originating on their traditional hunting grounds.
