A vice-chief with the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations says they’re prepared to take a deeper look into how Saskatchewan First Nations can help in the fight against global warming.

Glen Pratt says the FSIN is coming up with a green strategy, which includes initiatives that will help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and better protect Mother Earth.

Pratt says one of those strategies is work in the mining sector. He believes much more can be done to make sure the land that mines are situated on is left the way it was found when the operation shuts down.

Pratt adds the FSIN also needs to team up with the federal government to incorporate environment-friendly and energy efficient appliances in First Nations housing.
