Roy Cheecham has been elected to his fourth consecutive term as chief of the Clearwater River Dene Nation.
The actual vote count hasn’t been released yet, but we can tell you that Cheecham defeated the two other candidates in the running.
Cheecham has been chief of the band for the last 12 years and will serve another four-year term.
Cheecham will be dealing with some familiar faces on the band’s council.
Gerald Hainault, Ivan Lemaigre and Bob Piche were all re-elected in yesterday’s voting.
They are joined by newcomers Teddy Clarke and Ursula Piche.
