Clearwater River Chief Speaks to RCMP

The chief of the Clearwater River nation has met with the RCMP to discuss the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a band member.

Chief Roy Cheechum says the meeting was helpful, but more questions still need to be answered.

Cheechum says some of the questions that need to be answered include whether or not lethal force needed to be applied or whether the officer that pulled the trigger had other options open to him.

At the same time the chief says the RCMP need to be given time to carry out their investigation thoroughly.

Cheechum says he knew the deceased man and had never had a problem with him.
