Northern Saskatchewan’s Member of Parliament is shrugging off a bit of a shot he received this week from Liberal candidate David Orchard.

Orchard stated he was prepared to challenge his party’s policies from time to time — but said he had heard Tory MP Rob Clarke essentially concede in speeches that he couldn’t do anything to change Conservative policy.

Clarke says Orchard is entitled to his opinion, and can believe whatever he wants.

Clarke points out that Orchard represents a party that is currently in Opposition, and believes that he as a member of a sitting government has more of an opportunity to make a difference in Ottawa than Orchard.

Clarke also notes Orchard has attempted to run for a seat in Parliament for numerous parties, but has been unsuccessful.

Still, Clarke says he has no doubt Orchard will work hard to try to capture the seat in Desnethe-Missinippi-Churchill River.
