Newly-minted Desnethe–Missinippi-Churchill River MP Rob Clarke has been appointed to the House of Commons’ Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Committee.

The Conservative Member of Parliament is the latest MP in the riding to be named to this committee.

Former MPs Jeremy Harrison and Gary Merasty also served on the committee during their time in Ottawa.

Clarke says his personal Aboriginal experience and his familiarity with on-reserve and off-reserve issues will be assets in his new duties.

The Muskeg Lake band member says he believes the views of his Aboriginal constituents should be represented as much as possible in Ottawa.

He also pledges to “work tirelessly to represent the views of all of my constituents” on this committee.
