Some residents of Pinehouse are being advised not to eat deer-meat that was donated to the village last fall.

Tests indicate it came from a farm near the BAttlefords that has tested positive for chronic wasting disease.

Chief medical health officer for the north Dr. James Irvine says the move is a precautionary one.

He says to date there has never been a case of chronic wasting disease showing up in a human.

However he says they don’t want to take a chance and he advises deer- hunters to get their animals checked.

Irvine adds the residents were notified about the meat in early August.
