Children Using Breached Dam As A Waterslide

Officials at the Saskatchewan Watershed Authority say they are disappointed in the actions of some people between the Lac La Plonge Dam and the Beaver River.

The authority breached a section of the Beauval-area dam on June 28th because of high water levels in the area.

Warnings were sent out to the community to take caution as the water levels were expected to triple.

However, people have been swimming in the breached section and downstream.

Authority spokesman Don Dill says kids have been using the dam like a waterslide, and he’s advising parents to keep their children away from these waters.

The authority has since put up “No Trespassing” and “No Swimming” signs in the area.
