A new study says over half of First Nations children on-reserve are overweight or obese.
The findings are in an extensive health survey released by the National Aboriginal Health Organization.
The study also found that First Nations children between the ages of 3 to 5 are the most likely to be obese.
As well, First Nations children are 70 per cent more likely than other children to report one or more injuries in the previous year.
The most common causes were falls or trips, bicycle and motor-vehicle accidents and sports injuries.
The survey was conducted in 2002 and 2003 and involved 22,000 participants in 238 First Nations communities.
