The panel gathering public feedback on the future of uranium in the province got a rough ride from a couple of northern Saskatchewan chiefs last night.
Stony Rapids was the site of the latest public consultation meeting last night — and the first to be held in the province’s Athabasca Basin.
Fond du Lac Chief Albert Mercredi and Black Lake Chief Donald Sayazie are upset there wasn’t more advance notice given about the meeting — and questioned if the event could even be called a consultation.
The original list of communities the panel would visit was released in early April — but last night’s meeting wasn’t added to the consultation schedule until last week.
About 25 people attended last night’s session.
The panel wraps up its public consultations with two more meetings today in Fond du Lac and Wollaston Lake.
