Chief Speaks About Latest RCMP Shooting

A press release from the Clearwater River Dene nation says the band is shocked at the shooting death of band member Harry Hainault.

The 38 year-old man died Tuesday night after being shot by an RCMP officer during an altercation on the reserve.

The band says it is not clear what happened to prompt the officer to shoot Heinault.

But it’s determined to get to the bottom of it and see if excessive force was used.

As well the first nation says it wants to see that all proper procedures and safeguards are followed.
