Chief Has Questions For RCMP

The chief of the Canoe Lake First Nation says he and his community want answers.

Chief Guy Lariviere spoke today about 19 year-old Kyle Lariviere, who escaped police custody over the weekend and was then found dead on a snowmobile trail.

Chief Lariviere says his community has a good relationship with the RCMP, as three of its citizens are members, including Kyle’s older brother, Gary.

Lariviere is the uncle to the deceased and says he was a handsome, respectful guy with lots of friends and would talk politics sometimes with the Chief.

Lariviere says the death has been hard on the whole community and the school Kyle attended had to be shut down for a couple of days to bring in grief counsellors to talk to the students.
